All the team owners of the Indian Premier League have assembled under one roof in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to take part in the mega auction that would shape the destiny of their clubs for years to come. Numerous records have already been shattered as franchises aim to build an all-round squad that can take on the best in the world. While the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and Nita Ambani are well-known owners of Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians respectively, the rest of the owners aren’t people who are regularly in the spotlight. When it comes to consistency, there's no parallel to Chennai Super Kings, the five-time Indian Premier League champions. They are also the most celebrated franchise, with their fan base arguably eclipsing all nine teams, thanks to MS Dhoni. Former BCCI president N Srinivasan is the proud owner of the CSK, through the subsidiary Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited, established in 2014. Srinivasan's net worth is estimated to be around ₹720 crore, as reported by Moneycontrol.

Mumbai Indians, the most successful franchise in the history of the Indian Premier League, is owned by Reliance Industries through their sporting subsidiary Indiawin Sports. While Mukesh Ambani heads Reliance Industries, his wife Nita Ambani and son Aakash Ambani oversee the sporting business. The Ambani family is worth ₹7,42,922 Crore, as revealed in their annual report for 2023/24.

The defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders are owned by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment in partnership with Jay Mehta and his wife Juhi Chawla’s Mehta Group. Red Chillies Entertainment has a 55% stake in the sporting franchise and they also owns a team in the Caribbean Premier League. And this comes as no surprise given that Shah Rukh Khan is one of the richest actors in India, with a net worth of ₹7,300 crore, while the Mehta Group is worth ₹4,171 crore.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have never lifted the IPL trophy, yet their fandom remains at the top, thanks to the presence of Virat Kohli, who has been there since its inception in 2008. The franchise is owned by United Spirits Limited, a subsidiary of global alco-bev giant Diageo, and boasts a net worth of ₹6,672 crore.

Delhi Capitals are owned by GMR Group and JSW Group. Both groups have an equal share in the franchise, and they recently decided to oversee the operation in the rolling cycle of two years, and currently the GMR Group oversees operation till 2026. While JSW's heir Parth Jindal is the face of the team, often seen cheering in the stands, the auction process is headed by Kiran Grandhi, the youngest son of Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao. G.M rao has a net worth of ₹330 crore while Sajjan Jindal owns a business empire worth ₹137500 crore.

Punjab Kings have four owners, but the Burman Family owns 46% of the stake, while Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia own 23% each. The remaining 8% is owned by Karan Paul of Apeejay Surrendra Group. Punjab Kings have never been able to win the Indian Premier League title. Burman Family is one of the richest tycoons in India, with a net worth of ₹74,003 crore. Wadi Family is worth ₹60,000 crore while Preity Zinta’s net worth amounts to ₹110 crore.

Goenka previously owned Rising Pune Super Giants for IPL 2016 and IPL 2017, but it was dissolved once Chennai Super Kings served their banishment. Goenka, with a net worth of ₹410 crore

Sunrisers Hyderabad, the winner of the IPL 2016, is owned by the media mogul of Southern India, Kalanithi Maran, who owns the famous Sun TV franchise. Maran's daughter Kavya handles the sporting business of the family since 2020. Kavya’s net worth is estimated to be around Rs 410 crore.

The Emerging Media owned by Manoj Badale, with a net worth of ₹1330 crore, owns a 63% stake in the franchise that won the first edition of the IPL. New York-based venture fund RedBird Capitals owns 15% stake, while the shares of other two owners remain undisclosed. Gerry Cardinale, the owner of RedBird Capitals, is worth $200 million.
